Nice to Meet You Palo Alto!

Starting Monday, April 22, your local Patch site has a new editor.

I have to admit I'm a little intimidated by you, Palo Alto.

For almost three years now, I—Claudia Cruz—have served as the editor of Mountain View Patch. Mountain View is a fantastic city and I've been spoiled by the great food, great people, great business, startup culture and fascinating stories.

Now I feel like I have to start over again in a new city. Shhhh! I almost feel like I'm cheating on Mountain View with you.

I don't know your city well, but the spots I know I frequent often. As an alumnus of The Ohio State University, you'll most likely find me at The Old Pro every Saturday in the fall cheering on the Buckeyes (next year we'll win it all, sorry Stanford!). Or you might find me across the street at Coupa Café enjoying an arepa, their tasty Venezuelan corn sandwich.

Since Patch's parent company, Aol, has an office on Page Mill Road I also tend to hang out at Antonio's Nut House and La Bodeguita Del Mundo.

To burn off some of those calories, I'll head to The Dish and now look forward to exploring your Baylands.

But Palo Alto isn't Mountain View. It's not only the home to Stanford University, but the birthplace of Hewlett Packard and even Google and Facebook.

It's proud of the academic and athletic achievement at the local schools and in particular, I remember the honor brought to the city by the Palo Alto Football Team when they won the state championship. Even I rooted for them!

I do also understand—that like in Mountain View—issues of development, affordable housing and transit concern many residents. Oh, and let's not forget parking!

There's so much going on that I hope I can count on your help, as residents and workers in the city, to lend Patch a hand by posting calendar events, announcements and even pictures on the site.

And if you have something to say—say it on Patch! Join the already fabulous group of Local Voices bloggers who every week reach some of the most influential people in the world through the site.

Long story short, I can't do this without you. You are essential to our success.

I look forward to the challenge of editing Palo Alto Patch. Here's to great times!

Always,
