Werewolf Full Moon Ride this Sunday, May 6

Peninsula Bike Party leads bike ride guided by the light of the Full Moon.

Peninsula Bike Party has led "Werewolf Rides" the night of every Full Moon since February 2012. The next one starts this Sunday, May 6 at 8:30 pm, at the California Avenue Caltrain Station.

The routes chosen for Werewolf Rides are as dark and remote as possible, and include a lot of bike paths. In the darkest sections we turn off our bike lights and ride under the light of the Full Moon! This way we can actually see much more, because our eyes naturally adjust to the darkness, and the Full Moon is bright, especially when directly overhead, as happens later in the ride.

This month's ride, slow-paced with 3 rest stops and 20 miles in length, will tour the baylands of Palo Alto, East Palo Alto, and Menlo Park, circle Facebook's new Menlo Park Campus, and cross two bike bridges, one old (Oregon Ave in Palo Alto) and one brand spanking new (Ringwood Ave in Menlo Park). This new bike bridge only just opened to the public last Monday!

The darkest part of the ride will be Menlo Park's Baylands Park, which is criss-crossed with trails and offers excellent views of the San Francisco Bay.
