New Restaurant Opening in Palo Alto

The Sea by Alexander’s Steakhouse will open in Palo Alto November 9, 2012, providing the Bay Area with an intriguing new dining option. Executive Chef Yu Min Lin will present a fine dining seafood-focused menu prepared with premium quality ingredients and techniques that distinguished his work at the Michelin two-star restaurant Providence located in Los Angeles. Chef Lin, now 37 years old, grew up in Taiwan and trained in Japan.

Working with Lin to ensure that the entirety of the The Sea dining experience is a good one will be Pastry Chef Dan Huynh, General Manager Tim Halsted, and Special Events Manager Amanda Williams.

Among the notable offerings that will be found on the The Sea opening menu will be such appetizers ($10.00 to $18.00) as Hamachi Shots with truffled ponzu, avocado, ginger and jalapeño; Togarashi Tuna Tataki with radish, avocado, soy vinaigrette and crispy garlic; and a Grilled
White Shrimp Caesar with Yukon gold potato, crouton, Parmesan cheese and tomato. Among the entrees ($31.00 to $65.00) will be Wild Alaskan Poached Halibut with fresh peas, Meyer lemon, shimeji mushrooms, carrots, dried bell peppers and smoked salt; Wild Hawaiian Seared Mero with sweet potato, sautéed broccolini, cippolini onions and port wine; Wild Canadian Butter Poached Lobster with kabocha squash, heirloom beets, spinach and horseradish; and Maple Leaf Farms Muscovy Duck with bacon, cabbage, green peppercorn and duck jus. For dessert, diners can
enjoy Pandora, chocolate mousse with hazelnut, praline and caramelized miso ice cream; Red Velvet, a red velvet genoise with cream cheese and cranberry; a cheese plate; and four additional options. Not to be missed will be the restaurant's 8-course tasting menu ($140.00) which will be available beginning about a month after the restaurant opens.

The Sea bar, headed up Bar Director Perry Hewitt, will offer a robust section of contemporary, classic and original cocktails. The international wine list will include more than 300 vintages, with about 17 available by the glass, and will be overseen by Wine Director Johnny Slamon.

Highlights of the upscale, contemporary design of the 148-seat dining room will include a color scheme of white, light blues and grays, plus mirror accents, and a white Caesarstone bar top with white leather barstools. An outdoor patio will have room for 50. The Sea will have
substantial private dining options with a half dozen venues of various sizes and a full conference center that can accommodate up to 200 guests.
