Water Emergency on Everyone’s Mind—California Secretary of Natural Resources to Speak at NASA Ames
Secretary John Laird, California Natural Resources is responsible for protecting the state’s water resources. He will keynote the event “California’s Water: Search for Sustainability and Resilience,” February 13, 5:30–7:30 pm at NASA Ames Silicon Valley. Other speakers include Michael Killen, Artist and Producer of Sustainable and Resilient California Art and Speaker Tour; and NASA Ames Steven Zornetzer, PhD, Associate Director, and Steven Hipskind, PhD, Chief Earth Sciences.
The art that will be on display consists of five iconic, message-based, large-scale paintings by Michael Killen: “California After Don Quixote,” Water Water Everywhere and Not a Drop to Drink,” Sustainability,” Resilience” and “Grandpa, What Will You Leave Behind for Me” by Michael Killen. “The Dragon Slayer” by artist Harry Cohen will also be on display.
Sid Espinosa, Director of Corporate Citizenship, Microsoft Corporation Silicon Valley. says, “The evening promises to stimulate the intellect and the emotions.” Cole Wilbur, Trustee, Lucile and David Packard Foundation, says “Michael’s art is important. It pulls you in and you are changed.” Killen says, “Harry Cohen, the California artist who made the series of portraits of the late climate scientist Dr. Stephen H. Schneider, will display his “The Dragon Slayer of the Great Foe of Our Times” (2’ x 3’).
