PALO ALTO FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

Where/When: Along University Avenue, Palo Alto. This Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27 and 28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Summer may be winding down, but festival season is not quite over yet. Head on over to University Avenue in downtown this weekend for the annual Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, this year hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy lots of art, entertainment, good food and more. Strap the kiddies in the stroller and have a great weekend in the sunshine, browsing all the vendor booths and listening to live music!

SCIENCE NIGHT

Where/When: , 351 Homer Ave., Palo Alto. This Saturday, Aug. 27, 5-7 p.m.

Why Go: Treat your young one to a night of hands-on science fun! The Museum of American Heritage is hosting a special Science Night for ages seven and up, featuring playtime with all manner of science-y things like static electricity, electromagnetic games and toys, and much more.

Pricing: $20 at the door or $17 if booked in advance.

‘HAPPY HOUR’ FOR NEW AND EXPECTING PARENTS

Where/When: , 299 S. California Ave., Palo Alto. This Thursday, Aug. 26 at 5:15 p.m.

Why Go: Blossom Birth introduces a new monthly event for new and expecting parents! Enjoy “healthy” cocktails, meet other parents in the area, and take part in themed discussions on pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and caring for your new child. Different guest speakers will be featured each month, see the schedule by clicking the link above.

FAST-PACED STROLLER HIKE AT STANFORD DISH

Where/When: Main Entrance, Junipero Serra Boulevard and Stanford Avenue, Stanford, CA. This Wednesday and next Wednesday, Aug. 24 and 31, 9-10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Join Stroller Hike organizer Pippa and her little one, Ruth, for a fast-paced stroller hike around the loop at Stanford Dish. Meet at the guard kiosk inside the gate at the main entrance, at the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Junipero Serra Boulevard, at Stanford. Stroller hikers will tackle the rolling hills and take in the views along this wide, paved path. It gets very sunny there, so be sure to bring hats, sunscreen and water. ‘GNOMEO AND JULIET’

Where/When: Atherton Library, 2 Dinkelspiel Station Lane. This Friday, Aug. 26, 7-8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Treat your little ones to a Friday night movie, without having to spend a fortune. Join the folks at the Atherton Library for a showing of the animated movie, “Gnomeo and Juliet.”
