History Meets Haunting at Rengstorff House in Mountain View

Daytime treats and parade for little ones, and two nights of ghostly tours.

The Friends of "R" House -- the historic Rengstorff -- have transformed Mountain View's oldest home into a haunted mansion and are throwing open the estate's doors for a kid-friendly afternoon and two evenings of tours.

Rengstorff House's educated and living historians will guide guests through the home and gardens on 20-minute tours set for Friday and Saturday nights.

The first tour begins at 7:30 p.m., with the last tour departing at 10 p.m.

Tour tickets are available at www.ticketderby.com. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis, with a price increase for day-of-tour buys.

And on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m., Rengstorff's Halloween celebration is for the whole family and child friendly with a suggested donation of $3.

Costume parade is set for 2 p.m., with seasonally inspired crafts, games and light refreshments.
