Kids and Teens Writing Contest Underway at Library

In 500 words or less: "What would you create that could change your world?"

From the Palo Alto Library:

The Palo Alto City Library announces its 5th Annual Writing Contest for kids and teens.
 
Kids grades 2-5 and teens grades 6-12 are invited to enter. The winning essays will be published on the Library's website as well as the website of the Palo Alto Historical Association. Reception details will be emailed to attendees.

This year's prompt:
In 500 words or less, students should answer the question,
"What would you create that could change your world?"

Entries are due by: Mon., Jan. 13.
Essays must be submitted electronically on the library webpage.

Celebrating 100 years of preserving Palo Alto history, this year's essay contest is funded by the Palo Alto Historical Association, and the Friends of the Palo Alto Library.

The essays will be judged on concept and creativity.  Both children and teens are eligible to win 1st place grand prizes of $25 gift certificates from Books Inc.

Additionally, all participants will receive prizes including Friends of the Library Book Bucks along with other surprise coupons.

Kids (Grades 2-5)
Date and Time: Sat., March 8 at 2 p.m. Location: Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.

Teens (Grades 6-12)
Date and Time: Sat., March 8 at 4 p.m. Location: Lucie Stern Community Center, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto.
