Letter: Thank You, Good Samaritan

This letter writer is grateful for a random act of kindness that will benefit many who live, work or shop in Palo Alto.

While waiting at the long left-turn light on El Camino and Sand Hill/Alma, I noticed a man raking the walkway to the east. He was dressed in casual but not worker's clothes, and was handling the rake expertly to move leaves and the accumulated dirt that narrowed the walkway.

He then picked up a bare Eucalyptus branch (longer than he was tall) and carried it down the walkway. By that time, the left turn lane had begun to move. Just beyond him was a late model car with the trunk lid open.

I suspect I saw a Good Samaritan in action. The car was silver-gray, so he knows who he is.
