Palo Alto Takes a Star Turn

Filming for an HBO project shut down streets, but star-struck locals enjoyed the attention.

Traffic on University Avenue came to a halt Tuesday evening as a Hollywood crew filmed scenes for an HBO pilot.

Locals gathered early to get a glimpse of the excitement. They strained for decent views and posted photos on Twitter.

The series, tentatively dubbed "Silicon Valley," centers around six "Friends"-style programmers who are living together and trying to make it big in Silicon Valley. (Sounds more like a documentary than a fictional series.)

The pilot was directed by Mike Judge, best known for directing the 1999 feature film "Office Space" and for creating the animated comedy series "Beavis and Butt-head."
