The Goats Have Arrived! SFO Shuttles in 600 Extra Helpers for Fire Control

The annual-- and unique-- weed abatement program is again underway at SFO airport near San Bruno.

The Peninsula's seasonal four-legged residents are back in town to once more help clear brush and weeds outside San Francisco International Airport.

A herd of goats was ushered into town on June 3, according to SFO Spokesman Doug Yakel.  There are about 600 this year.

The will be in town for about two weeks, he said.

Their main job is to help create a fire break near the airport by munching away at the vegetation.  The program has been running for the last decade.
