Watch Your Neighbor on Jeopardy

Tune in to see if Elaine Moise, a musician and a senior support analyst at Oracle's administrator systems at Stanford and musician, came back a winner.

An avid player of trivia games, Elaine Moise will appear on Jeopardy this Monday, June 11.

The 58-year-old senior support Analyst for Oracle Financials at Stanford and musician of klezmer music took an online test on the Jeopardy website.

Months later the game show invited her to tryout in person in San Francisco, where she took another test and "played practice Jeopardy games, 'signalling devices' and all," Moises said.

She must have impressed them because they contacted her by email that she'd been accepted. Moises was now on her way to Los Angeles for the taping.

According to Moises, she "didn't do any prep."

"This is a game, and I just did it for fun," she said. "I figured that whatever I knew, I knew, and whatever I didn't, I didn't."

She admitted to some nervousness, particularly about being on national television, and added that meeting the other contestants was fun.

"I wouldn't say I exactly 'met' Alex Trebek, but he talked to us, and he's a very pleasant guy," she said.

While Moises—who lived in Menlo Park after moving to the Bay Area from the East Coast—couldn't disclose the outcome of the game, the local mom has had years of trivia game practice. She always does the NY Times crossword and loves Trivial Pursuit.

"I suppose you can say that I like accumulating odd bits of information," Moises said.

Oh, and if you're curious about her "chat" with Trebek, she mentioned her klezmer music band "The Klezmakers." Describe as Jewish jazz, The Klezmakers will perform a free concert in Los Gatos Vasona Park on June 23 at 5 p.m. Moies currently lives in Mountain View.
