  • Political Crisis in Mali. Stanford Humanities Center, Levinthal Hall (Stanford University, 424 Santa Teresa) Free. 6:30 p.m. Panelists will reflect on the contemporary political crisis in Mali and the Sahel.

  • The "Invisible War" Film Screening and Discussion. 7 p.m. Sofia University 1059 E. Meadow Circle, Palo Alto. Documentary chronicles rape within the U.S. military. Screening plus discussion with Kay Leinerman, Ed.D., an adjunct faculty member at Sofia and Santa Clara University.
Thursday, Nov. 14 
  • Personal Preparedness & Crime WatchAvenidas, 450 Bryant Street, Palo Alto. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. For public, on crime prevention, threats, hazards in Palo Alto, and practices to prepare for future disasters.
Friday, Nov. 15 
  • Conversation with Patricia Curtan. 7 p.m. Palo Alto Art Center, Main Gallery with San Jose Museum of Art’s Around the Table: Food, Creativity & Community exhibition/festival.
Saturday, Nov. 16 
  • Palo Alto Animal Services opening of 2013 Pet & Gift Boutique. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Unique handcrafted items/gifts for pets or their people.
  • Native Plant Sale. Mission Blue Nursery in Brisbane. Mission Blue Nursery grows only San Bruno Mountain native plants.
Sunday, Nov. 17
  • Community Jazz Jam at Community School of Music and Arts, Mountain View.  Sessions are open to all intermediate to advanced jazzers
