TWO GREAT BABY-PARENT EVENTS THIS FRIDAY

Where/When: , 299 S. California Ave., Palo Alto. This Friday, Sept. 23: “Book Babies” from 3:30-4:30 p.m.; “Elimination Communication” discussion from 4:30-6 p.m.

Why Go: Two great events for parents of young children are taking place at Blossom Birth nonprofit parenting resource center this Friday. At 3:30 p.m., bring your baby for the regular “Book Babies” event, at which children’s librarian Cen Campbell will introduce your young child to songs, rhymes, bounces and books that will support your baby’s language and literacy skills. This event is aimed at pre-walking babies, but all ages and their parents are welcome. Then, stick around for a helpful discussion on “Elimination Communication,” or potty training, right after Book Babies at 4:30 p.m. This casual, roundtable discussion will help introduce the topic of teaching your child to eliminate on the toilet and move away from diapers. You will learn the signs to determine if your child is ready, and gentle methods to help introduce your child to the concept in a safe, loving and relatively stress-free way. This discussion group meets monthly on the fourth Friday. Bring your child and your potty with you if you wish!
