Where/When: 520 Sand Hill Road, Palo Alto. This Saturday, May 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Some art belongs in a museum, but sometimes, it’s best looked at underfoot! Join Nordstrom to paint tiles to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House at the Children’s Hospital at Stanford. Your child will get to paint their own picture on a tile, which will be immortalized at it is permanently installed in the brand new, remodeled Kids Wear Department at in the . All proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House.

 7TH ANNUAL VINTAGE VEHICLES AND FAMILY FESTIVAL

Where/When: El Camino Real and Quarry Road, Palo Alto. This Sunday, May 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: This event promises to be a fun time for all. After all, what’s not to like? Good food, fun family activities, and of course, classic cars to drool over! This year, Palo Alto’s is a participator.

 15th ANNUAL A LA CARTE AND ART FESTIVAL

Where/When: Along Castro Street in downtown Mountain View. This Saturday and Sunday, May 21 and 22, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go: A La Carte and Art marks the official start to art and wine festival season on the peninsula! Save yourself some parking woes and a little extra carbon monoxide in the air, and take the family on light rail or Caltrain to downtown Mountain View—they’re both stroller-friendly, for those with little ones! Browse booth after booth of gourmet food vendors, artists showing their masterpieces and wares, and don’t forget to plan a stop at the Kids Tons of Fun Zone! And for the daddies, there is the “A La Car and Art” classic, custom car show. Something for everyone!

 SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOOKMOBILE COMES TO STANFORD

Where/When: Escondido Village, 859 Escondido Road, Stanford. Tuesday, May 24, 1:30-2 p.m.

Why Go: It’s your last chance to catch the Santa Clara County Bookmobile at Stanford! Hop on board, browse the traveling collection of children’s books, and then wave as the Bookmobile drives away. A visit from the Bookmobile is always a fun and memorable event for a child. For more information about the Bookmobile and its stops and visits around the County, click on the link above.

OUTDOOR MOVIE

Where/When: Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway St., Redwood City. Weekly on Thursdays at 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: If your kids are older, this could be a fun, regular outing for the whole family, all summer long! Redwood City brings back its outdoor movie screenings on Thursday nights. Bring a portable chair or a blanket to sit on, and order some takeout from one of the Broadway Street restaurants or cafes. Each week is a different movie, so click on the link above to see the schedule of what’s playing. This week’s movie is the Academy Award winner, The King’s Speech, which is based on the true story of the Queen of England's father and his friendship with maverick Australian speech therapist, Lionel Logue.
