MEMORIAL DAY BOL PARK STROLLER HIKE

Where/When: Bol Park, Matadero Avenue at Laguna Avenue. Monday, May 30, 9:30-11 a.m.

Why Go: Start off your Memorial Day with an invigorating hike in the outdoors, and work off some calories before heading to that BBQ! At the end of the hike, everyone will get the chance to visit with the chickens, goats and donkeys and check out the stream and beautiful wildflowers. TOY STORY 3 ½ THE MUSICAL

Where/When: , 550 Almond Ave., Los Altos. May 26 and June 2 at 6:30 p.m.; and May 27 and 28 and June 3 and 4 at 7 p.m.

Why Go: Do you have a child who can’t get enough of the Toy Story movies? Treat them to a special stage performance of this unique Toy Story-inspired musical, performed by local kids their age!

PENINSULA YOUTH THEATRE AUDITIONS FOR “BYE BYE BIRDIE”

Where/When: Peninsula Youth Theatre, 2500 Old Middlefield Way, Mountain View. May 28 and 29 at 2 p.m.

Why Go: A great project for your child to be involved with this summer! If you have a budding musical theater star in your house, let them put all that energy and enthusiasm to good use by auditioning to be a part of a professional musical during their break from school this year. The show will be directed and choreographed by Bill Starr.

Pricing: Auditions are free.

INTO THE WILD: OUTDOOR LORE FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES

Where/When: Hidden Villa, 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. This Saturday, May 28, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: How did kids learn about nature 1,000 years ago when understanding the natural world was essential to staying alive? How can you, as an adult, develop the same keen awareness of nature that an Ohlone Indian child of 10 would already have mastered? This class uses both ancient methods of developing awareness, and modern methods of factual investigation to build skills and a sense of connection to nature.

Pricing: $45 for the first adult-child pair; $20 for each additional adult or child.

DR. SEUSS RARE EDITIONS TOUR

Where/When: , 603 Santa Cruz Ave., Menlo Park. May 29 through June 30.

Why Go: If the books of Dr. Seuss are favorites in your house, consider a trip to the Peabody Gallery in nearby Menlo Park to view rare pieces by Dr. Seuss himself, including private, reserve paintings such as “My Petunia Can Lick Your Geranium” and “Elephant Presenting A Flower to A Bird,” plus sculptures by the beloved artist that date all the way back to the 1930s. A great outing for Mom and Dad and an older child.
