MAY FETE CHILDREN’S PARADE

Where/When: Downtown Palo Alto, near Emerson Street and University Avenue. This Saturday, May 7, 9-11 a.m.

Why Go: It’s a parade! And it’s all about kids. Enjoy marching bands, dozens of decorated floats and hundreds of kids, marching, skating, tumbling, strolling and dancing through the streets of downtown Palo Alto. Following the parade, stick around so the whole family can enjoy food, music and games.

HIKE AND PICNIC

Where/When: Bring the little ones for a hike through ! Travel along the beautiful crushed oyster shell paths around the park’s artistic installments, then stop to visit the birds around the duck pond. Pack a lunch so that after the hike, everyone can enjoy a picnic together. Hosted by the local group, Stroller Hikes.

Pricing: Free!

MOTHER’S DAY CONCERT

Where/When: , 26870 Moody Road, Los Altos Hills. This Sunday, May 8, 3-5 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate Mother’s Day as a family with something a little different—the Mother’s Day Concert at Hidden Villa Farm, with live R&B music, and tunes from the gospel band Chelle and Friends. The weather promises to be clear and sunny, so make a day of it, pack a picnic lunch, and also enjoy the arts and crafts projects and face painting!

Pricing: $15 per person; ages 2 and under are free.

FARM FRIDAYS

Where/When: Full Circle Farm, 1055 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale. Weekly on Fridays at 3 p.m.

Why Go: What kid doesn’t love getting up close with animals? Full Circle Farm is a hidden gem—a fully operational farm that is dedicated to educational opportunities for local families. Weekly on Fridays, you can bring the kids, meet up at the picnic tables near the fruit stand, and embark on a fun and educational tour of the farms. No reservations are needed.

Pricing: Free, but $5 donations are appreciated.

YSI SCIENCE SAFARI

Where/When: YSI (Youth Science Institute) at Redwood Grove, 482 University Ave. in Los Altos. This Saturday, May 7, 10-11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Take the kids on a short hike and meet some of the animals you might find in a redwood forest. Registration is required—click on the link above, call 408-356-4945 ext. 10, or e-mail laurie@ysi-ca-.org.

Pricing: Tickets range from $5-25.
