Five fun activities going on in the area over the next week, to help keep the kids entertained.

Where/When: , 660 Stanford Shopping Center, Palo Alto. This Saturday, April 16, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Bring the family and celebrate Easter a little early with a free Easter egg treasure hunt through select stores around the Stanford Shopping Center. Stop by Center Pavilion to register and pick up a colorful egg basket and map to all the stores that will be hiding eggs. Then hop along the Egg Hunt Trail and load your basket up with brightly colored eggs, stuffed with all kinds of Easter treats. Be sure to save enough time to take a photo with the Easter Bunny, who will be there celebrating as well, and to dance to a few tunes played by Radio Disney, who will be the in-house entertainment for the day.

GAMBLE GARDEN EARTH DAY  

Where/When: , 1431 Waverly St., Palo Alto. This Friday, April 15, 2-4 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate Earth Day by getting into nature, at Palo Alto’s beautiful Gamble Gardens. Bring the kids and let them run wild, participating in a garden scavenger hunt, arts and crafts and more. Refreshments served!

STORYTIME FOR TODDLERS AND PRESCHOOLERS

Where/When: , 4050 Middlefield Road. Toddler Storytime is Fridays, 10-10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime is Fridays, 11-11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Storytime at the library can be a great experience for a child—and one that’s totally free, where you don’t have to worry about your child’s screams or running around bothering anyone! Stay after storytime to browse the shelves of books, DVDs and CDs. Take a few home!

2011 SPRING FARM TOURS  

Where/When: Deer Hollow Farm at , 22500 Cristo Rey Dr., Los Altos. This Saturday, April 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: Visit a local treasure! The time has come again for Deer Hollow Farm’s annual Spring Farm Tours. Come visit historic Deer Hollow Farm and meet the resident farm animals. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about homestead farming. An affordable “stay-cation” for the entire family, appropriate for all ages.

CALIFORNIA YOUTH SYMPHONY AUDITIONS   

Where/When: , 12345 El Monte Road, Los Altos Hills. This Friday and Saturday, April 15 and 16. Contact CYS for an appointment time.

Why Go: The California Youth Symphony is one of the top musical performing groups in the country. Auditions for the 2011-12 season will be held by appointment this weekend. The group is open to youth of high school age or younger as of September, 2011.
