Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra's "Red, White and Bassoon" Concert

The Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra will be hoisting tri-colored flags in its "Red, White and Bassoon," Concert, a diverse program of music from England, France and the United States. Following Handel's stirring Entrance of the Queen of Sheba from "Solomon" we're on to France where our featured soloist, bassoon virtuosa Karla Ekholm, will amaze you in Jean Francaix' delightful Divertimento for Basson and Strings. Next we are at home, where we will perform the First Suite for Strings by Northern California's own modern genius, Lou Harrison, whose unique and fascinating compositions blend influences both East and West. Then back to early twentieth-century England and Sir Parry's evocative English Suite, a British composer. Additional highlights of our concert feature the talented musicians of our Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra performing masterpieces from the chamber music repertory. The concert will be conducted by PACO Music Director Benjamin Simon. Free Admission
