Last Chance to Join Art Center’s ‘Palo Alto Forest’

Community-made art installation needs your favorite tree photos.

The Palo Alto Art Center is taking final submissions for its new installation, “The Palo Alto Forest,” by artist Angela Buenning Filo.

The crowd-sourced art installation will feature photographs of trees taken by Palo Alto residents, including brief written musings.

The project explores the question: how do the trees that surround us impact our lives?

“Your photograph of a tree in Palo Alto will become part of The Palo Alto Forest,” writes Filo on the project website.

No special skills are required to participate, she says. Just snap a picture of your favorite tree, write a six-word story about it, and submit it to tree@paloaltoforest.org by June 15, 12012.

Also coming up: this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to noon, Canopy will host a tree walk with their certified arborist in Old Palo Alto. This is a great opportunity to take tree photos for the art project, or simply to learn the stories of Palo Alto’s varied urban forest. More information on the Saturday tour here.
