Bay Area band famous for "Semi-Charmed Life" hit will perform free concert tonight at 7 p.m.

A limited number of Stanford University students will experience a "Semi-Charmed Life" at a free concert tonight by the band Third Eye Blind.

The 90s alternative rock band, originally formed in San Francisco, will be returning to the Bay Area to play a concert at the Stanford Memorial Auditorium at 7 p.m., company spokeswoman Heidi Flato said.

Launched by Verizon Wireless as part of a promotional concert series that brings local bands to Bay Area coffee shops, the band was originally scheduled to play at the university's CoHo Cafi, she said.

Since the coffee shop houses about 150 students, the venue was switched to the school's auditorium in order to accommodate more students, Flato said. About 1,600 tickets will be issued for the new venue.

"The series is designed to give fans more intimate access to the bands. It's great that Stanford was willing to work with us to provide more availability," Flato said.
