Viewfinder: Palo Alto Festival of the Arts

Thousands flocked to University Avenue from all over the Bay Area to browse artists' booths, eat good food and enjoy live music at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts over the weekend.

The Palo Alto Festival of the Arts celebrated its 30th year this past weekend, attracting thousands of people to University Avenue.

Rows of artists' booths lined the street, displaying everything from paintings to photographs, handbags, jewelry, figurines, handblown glass, clay creations and more.

Two stages provided nonstop live entertainment. A smaller setup featured folk and acoustic acts, while a full concert stage showcased large dance bands.

Food vendors served up piping hot plates of hot dogs, crab cakes, garlic fries, knishes  and more, while the local Kiwanis Club poured glasses of wine and beer.

Several local art groups hosted a kids' art section, where young artists could be seen painting, stamping, coloring and making hand puppets.

All in all, the event -- sponsored this year by the City of Palo Alto and the Chamber of Commerce -- appeared to be a huge hit for people from all across the Bay Area.
