Fight Cancer at American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life

This is an article about a event that supports American Cancer Society research that we'd like to promote throughout the Palo Alto community.

Over 7 million people die from cancer each year. That’s more than 19,000 people per day. Many of us have friends or family who have been touched by cancer and know the pain they endure. You probably wish there was more you could do to help.

That’s how I felt several years ago while supporting one of my good friends. So I decided to join an event called Relay for Life, which funds cancer research. I was really inspired by the survivors who spoke at the event and by everyone’s dedication to the cause. I had such a great experience at Relay for Life that I’ve been involved ever since.

Relay for Life is a 24-hour event of the American Cancer Society that funds research for cancer prevention, treatment, and cures. Members of the community take turns walking around a track to honor those who have fought cancer and fight back against the disease. Relay for Life is a worldwide movement that has raised over $3 billion for the American Cancer Society, which saves millions of lives every year.
