Suspect Arrested in Palo Alto Butt-Grabbing Sexual Battery

A man who allegedly grabbed a woman's buttocks in Palo Alto last week has been arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor sexual battery, law enforcement officials reported Tuesday.

According to the Palo Alto Police Department on Wednesday, June 5 at 8:56 a.m., 31-year-old Belsasar Quiran drove up to the female victim as she got into her car on the 400 block of Kipling Street in downtown Palo Alto and grabbed her buttocks while still seated in his vehicle. The victim was unharmed.

Cops searched the area but couldn't locate the suspect. According to police, the suspect was alone in the car.

A passerby helped the victim by jotting down the license plate and the victim stopped by the police station to report the incident.

Police detectives determined that the registered owner of the vehicle fit the physical description of the suspect and got an arrest warrant and criminal charge from the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office on June 6.

Quiran's was arrested on June 7 and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.

According to the police, Quiran may not be connected to other reported sexual assaults like the June 2, 2013, at the Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve, or other recent assaults that have occurred in Palo Alto.
