Fatal Truck Accident in Palo Alto on Mountain View Border

UPDATE 2:07 P.M.: The 4200 block of West Middlefield Road, which was shut down after a cement truck crashed and the driver was found dead around 5:10 a.m., was reopened at 1:30 p.m.

UPDATE 11:18 A.M.: The block where the accident occurred remained closed as of 11 a.m. There was no estimated time of reopening, according to police.


UPDATE 8:07 A.M.: Palo Alto Police confirms a fatality after a big-rig accident on the 4200 block of Middlefield Road near the corner of San Antonio Road on the Palo Alto and Mountain View border. The incident occurred around 5:10 a.m. Saturday morning.

When police arrived they found a man inside the cement truck that had fallen on its side. the unidentified male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Palo Alto Police have closed several lanes of northbound San Antonio Road as it approaches Middlefield. It's likely that westbound Middlefield as it approaches San Antonio Road will be closed for some time as well.
