SF 49ers Team Store in Palo Alto

The 49ers cheerleaders, team mascot, and drum corp will be there, along with a former player signing his new book.

If you haven’t made it down to the new SF 49ers Team Store at Town & Country Village in Palo Alto yet, Saturday’s the day to add a visit to your agenda.

The store is holding a huge celebration with the team’s cheerleaders, the “Gold Rush,” along with mascot “Sourdough Sam” and the drum corp unit “Niner Noise.”

The store will be giving away a limited number of rally towels and mini-footballs, so arrive early.

To sweeten the celebration, the store will give a 10 percent discount to anyone who shows the sales associates Stanford football tickets.

If you come in the evening, 49er great and Super Bowl champion Jesse Sapolu will be there signing his new book I Gave My Heart to San Francisco 5-7 pm. He’ll be back Sunday, noon-5 pm.

This is the first Team Store the 49ers have opened outside of Candlestick Park. So far the public's reception has been “outstanding,” according to Gary Prell, Vice President of Centerplate, the management company that operates the store. Prell says that on opening day, Oct. 13, hundreds of people lined up to get their first glimpse of the store.  “They’re very glad to have us here. We’re like a little boutique rather than a high volume department store.”

The atmosphere may be more intimate than big box stores but the selection is large. It’s what brought Dan Stark through the doors Thursday afternoon. “I heard they had a good selection. (Other places) have some things, but not the selection they have here…I’m going to a game in a few weeks and I’m looking for some gear.”

Stark was shopping for jerseys and the Team Store stocked all of his favorite players.

The store has apparel for everyone—from newborns to men and women, official jerseys to tee shirts. There’s even a whole wall of hats.

There’s also a wide variety of gift items including autographed footballs, Italian purses, stuffed animals and a 49ers-themed Mr. Potato Head.

Prell considers Palo Alto the perfect place for expansion by the 49ers. “There’s a great fan base on the Peninsula, and Palo Alto people have been great.”

The SF 49ers Team Store is located at 855 El Camino Real, Palo Alto.

The 49ers also have a mobile store that operates in Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco. It will be open through the end of the season.
