Facebook To Launch Music Platform

Company insiders report that Facebook users will soon be able to stream music from the site.

Soon Facebook users will be able to crank up their favorite tunes on the site.

According to company insiders, Facebook will begin integrating music services such as Spotify, Rdio Inc. and MOG into users’ pages as early as next month. The new development is part of a larger effort to make the site an interactive hub, where users can also play games and watch videos.

Facebook will not directly host or stream any music, but rather rely on partners for the content.

The changes, if finalized, may be announced at Facebook’s f8 conference this September 22.

The move could put Facebook in greater competition with Google, which launched its Google Music Beta software in May.
