Paul Martin's American Grill, Nekter Juice Opening Soon in Mountain View

Two new tenants, an upscale restaurant and a Southern California-based juice shop, will open in coming weeks at The Village at San Antonio Center in Mountain View.

Nekter Juice Bar, a popular all-natural, vegan juice retailer with several SoCal locations including Costa Mesa and Dana Point, will open in early 2014 at The Village, on the corner of El Camino Real and San Antonio Road, according to developers.

Nekter, which sells made-to-order smoothies, juices and acai berry bowls, credits its success to an affordable, “simple blueprint where fresh fruits and vegetables get a daily workout.”

The 20-acre Village at San Antonio broke ground in 2011, as a mixed-used master plan of housing, retail, parks and plazas developed by San Francisco-based Merlone Geier Partners.

According to developers, The Village apartments are leasing the final building of the three-building residential component of the Village, and anticipates move-ins to begin in coming days.

“It’s exciting to see how popular the Village has already become and to add more components of the unique and vibrant community we first envisioned -- an active, walkable, and bike-friendly place that fits the City’s General Plan to put jobs, retail and housing closer to Caltrain and existing commercial areas,” said Liz Munger of Merlone Geier.

The Village at San Antonio Center is bounded by El Camino Real, San Antonio Road and California Street, and within walking distance to Caltrain station.

The second half of the Village, meanwhile, continues going through design and planning in conjunction with the City of Mountain View, Munger said.

“We’re looking forward to completing the remaining portion of The Village, to fulfill the original vision of transforming an underutilized auto-centric shopping center, into a mixed-use village that brings jobs and tax-revenue while adding new entertainment, restaurants, movies and park space everyone can enjoy,” she said.

The Village is expected to generate nearly $4 million a year in sales and hotel tax revenue and over 3,500 jobs.

The  project's sustainability components range from water-polishing bioswales for cleaning street run-off to energy-efficient building design and operation that exceeds California Title 24 mandates and meets U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) standards, developers noted.
