Webbys to be Livestreamed on Facebook Tonight

Will audiences embrace video on Facebook?

Facebook is once again pumping up its video streaming platform with tonight's live webcast of the Webby awards, another attempt by the social-networking goliath to make inroads in the online video space following in April.

The Wall Street Journal's Peter Kafka has a good analysis, pointing out that Facebook may already be the second-largest video site in the U.S. but nonetheless is relying heavily on Major League Baseball Advanced Media to run the show.

The ceremony will be hosted tonight by Lisa Kudrow, who told USA Today that the winners will be limited to five words in their acceptance speeches, which should keep the show fast and fresh.
