Let’s face it, everyone wants a kitten. They practically adopt out themselves! Meanwhile, the adult cats who have been awaiting adoption, sometimes for months, lay in their cages counting kitten after kitten as they get adopted. Granted, kittens are adorable, and we have many of them looking for homes. But keep in mind that they grow up, and become just like the ones waiting patiently at the shelter.
The same can be said of adult dogs and puppies. Although we have many more kittens than we do puppies, puppies can take a lot of work! Adopting an adult, possibly already housebroken and trained dog, can prevent a lot of stress and carpet stains.
Now through July 31st, all dogs over 5 years of age, and cats over 1 year of age are FREE to adopt. That’s right… FREE! All normal adoption requirements remain, but that pesky $125 adopting fee is waived so that we can find homes for the animals who will most likely remain at the shelter for many months.
