Saluting Veterans with Funds for Rehab and Housing in Palo Alto

The Fisher House Foundation will receive $15,000 from Sutter Health to provide lodging for families of military personnel undergoing medical treatment in Palo Alto, Sacramento and Hawaii.

Sutter Health has given $25,000 to housing and rehabilitation programs for veterans and active duty military

In recent years, more than 2 million military veterans have called California home. As part of a broader commitment to support military personnel and their families, Sutter Health announced a $25,000 donation to organizations dedicated to improving the lives of service men and women in Northern California.

A local beneficiary is the Fisher House Foundation, which provides lodging for families of military personnel undergoing medical treatment, with locations in Palo Alto, Sacramento and Hawaii. Sutter Health’s $15,000 donation will help four families stay at a Fisher House free for one year.

Sutter Health also made a $10,000 donation to Rivers of Recovery, a group that supports veterans and active duty military through recreational rehabilitation programs and outdoor-based therapies. This donation will help expand outreach for injured combat veterans in Modesto and throughout Northern California.

“Within Sutter Health, we are privileged to employ more than 1,000 veterans and reservists and are extremely grateful for the many contributions they bring to work every day,” said Pat Fry, president and CEO of Sutter Health. “Beyond our network of employees, we deeply appreciate the sacrifices veterans, active duty military personnel and their families have made across our nation, and we salute them for serving our country.”

Last November, the Employer Support of Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense National Committee, honored Sutter Health with a Patriot Award for demonstrating leadership in support of veterans, employees on active duty and their families.

“I wouldn’t be able to serve my country without the support of my employer," said Patrick McClain, a Programs Manager for Sutter Health’s Human Resources Information Systems department and 15-year reservist with the United States Air Force. "I’m grateful for what Sutter Health has allowed me to pursue in my professional career and continued military service.”

Sutter Health also partners with the Employment Development Department to promote jobs for military members seeking employment, in addition to longstanding partnerships with local military bases across Northern California.
