What Does "Having a Baby" Really Mean?

So, what does 'having a baby' really mean?

If you stop to think about it, you don't just have a "baby" but you truly create another human being, a person who will assume a role in our world and will influence its direction. This person you create will be a newborn for only 28 days, and will be an infant for only one year. In the grand scheme of things your baby will be a baby for a very short time.

So the message is this:

Enjoy your newborn, enjoy your baby, while you can!

Take advantage of your baby's perfect design and carry, hold, and wear your newborn and baby often. There are so many wonderful benefits available to both of you from this single practice. 

Intentionally touch your newborn and baby while you can, by playing with tiny hands and feet, and stroking your baby's head. Human touch offers many benefits too.

Pay attention to your newborn and to your baby. Paying attention makes a positive difference in your baby's overall development, and has a positive influence on your baby's future.

Shower this person you have created with love, permeating everything you do throughout your days together. Love is the bridge between you and your baby that makes giving and receiving these wonderful benefits possible.
