A construction worker who died after a fall at a home under construction in San Francisco on Wednesday has been identified by the medical examiner's office as 51-year-old East Palo Alto resident Jose Plancarte.
The fall was reported at 10:37 a.m. at 40 Edgehill Way, where contractors were building a new three-story home.
Plancarte was working on some scaffolding near an unfinished stairwell at the time of the fall, fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.
The other workers hadn't seen Plancarte in about 10 minutes, so they went looking and found him lying on the concrete below, Talmadge said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
She said it is believed Plancarte fell a distance of between 12 and 35 feet.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the death and will provide a final report on the case within six months, Cal/OSHA spokesman Greg Siggins said.
The construction company listed on the city building permit at 40 Edgehill Way is Versaggi Construction. No one from the Sonoma-based company
has been available to comment on the incident.
