Electrical Power Restored to Palo Alto Foothills
Power was turned off to about 50-to-75 homes for scheduled utility maintenance project.
A six-hour scheduled power blackout darkened dozens of residential homes in the Foothills Park area of Palo Alto on Wednesday.
Power was restored about 2:30 p.m. according to Debra Katz, a Palo Alto Utilities spokeswoman.
"We went there to do a major overhaul of the utility lines in the area," Katz said, adding that residents were notified in advance of the work which included relocating a utility pole that was too close to a local creek. About 50 to 75 homes were affected in the areas between Montebello Road and Shot Gun Fire Lane.

Katz said today’s work was the first of a two-part maintenance project the utility is doing in conjunction with Pacific Gas & Electric. Another six-hour maintenance event is set for July 1 and will affect residents below the Foothill Parks area, Katz said.
