Why Go: California's Great America kicks off its regular summer season on Memorial Day weekend. The 100-acre park has rides, movies, shows, something for everyone of all ages, from the very young to the very young at heart.

Why Go: Because buying local means reducing that carbon footprint. Farmers' market produce doesn't travel as far as supermarket produce does—which means fewer gallons of gas, less carbon emitted and, for the other "green"-minded folks, a boost for the local economy. Eat up!
