Get Out: Run a 5K, Buy Wearable Art

Welcome to our weekend planner, giving you the best weekend activities for Palo Alto and surrounding cities.

We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check out our picks for the activities to hit and new bars/restaurants/shops to explore.

1. 

Where/When: Cubberly Community Center Pavilion, 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go: The Parents' Club of Palo Alto and Menlo Park (PAMP) will be hosting their annual "rummage sale," which means you'll be sure to find children's toys, clothing and equipment, as well as maternity items.

Pricing: Free for PAMP members, $5 per family for nonmembers

Where/When:  at 700 Welch Rd. in Palo Alto, Friday, 6-8 p.m.

Why Go: Chef Mark will prepare a delectable selection of five appetizers paired with wines and other delicious morsels. Enjoy the mild weather on the patio and Dan Nieckarz's Latin and classical jazz live music.

Where/When:  at 50 Embarcadero Rd in Palo Alto, Saturday, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Run a 5, 10, or 25K this weekend, exploring the redwoods, foothills, Stanford University and Old Palo Alto. Each course has mutiple checkpoints, and the start and finish are located at Palo Alto High School. Visit http://terraloco.com to register.

Where/When:  at 1305 Middlefield Rd in Palo Alto (Lucie Stern Community Center), Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: The Palo Alto Art Center Foundation's spectacular 7th Annual Style 2011 Wearable Art Show and Sale will feature unique clothing, jewelry and accessories from over 38 locally and nationally renowned artists. This is a unique opportunity to meet the designers in person.

Pricing: $10, free for Palo Alto Art Center Foundation members. Tickets available at the event.

5. 

Where/When:  on Stanford's campus at 328 Lomita Drive, Saturday and Sunday, 1-2 p.m.

Why Go: This introductory tour features objects from a variety of cultures and historic periods.
