Get Out This Weekend

The work week is almost over and you’re getting ready to do the weekend happy dance. What better time to look ahead and plan your weekend with fun and interesting activities? Check out our picks for getting out on the town. 

1. BIKE BLENDER FRIDAY
Where/When: Patagonia, 525 Alma St., Palo Alto; Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. Why go: In recognition of Bike To Work Month Patagonia is serving free bike-blended smoothies and giveaways. Fruit donated by Whole Foods. Price: Free  

2. ‘HANGING GEORGIA’
Where/When: Pear Avenue Theatre, 1220 Pear Ave., Mountain View; 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday.Through June 9. 

Why go: Enjoy an original play about painter Georgia O’Keefe and her relationship with Alfred Stieglitz. Written by Palo Alto playwright Sharmon Hilfinger

3.  PALO ALTO FARMERS’ MARKET
Where/When: Gilman Street and Hamilton Ave., Palo Alto; Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. 

Why go: Shop for fresh seasonal fruits and veggies including bananas, asparagus, cucumbers, strawberries, lemons, herbs and more.

Price: Free.

4. CITYCAMP PALO ALTO
Where/When: Downtown Palo Alto; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 

Why go: Be part of the first National Day of Civic Hacking and experience an event where tech, entrepreneurship and innovation come together to help shape the future of our community. Participants can enjoy the latest robotics exhibits, art activities, food and live entertainment. 

Price: Free.

5.  ’OTELLO’
Where/When: Lucie Stern Theatre, 1305 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto; Saturday at 8 p.m., Sunday at 2 and 8 p.m. 

Why go: Enjoy West Bay Opera’s take on the Bard’s fully staged masterpiece with  orchestra and chorus. Price: $40-$75. 650-424-9999.

6.  BEERWALK
Where/When: Castro and Villa streets, downtown Mountain View; Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. 

Why go: Stroll downtown streets and enjoy interesting shops, boutiques and restaurants while sipping a wide selection of beers. Must be 21 or older to drink beer.
