Patch Picks: Everything Pumpkin

From pumpkin patches to pumpkin carving, we've got the best of local pumpkin events to satisfy that October orange craving.

1. PUMPKIN CARVING

Unleash your inner artist at the Pacific Art League's free carving event this Saturday -- pumpkins provided! Tools and stencils will be provided, too. Find it at: Pacific Art League, 668 Ramona St., Palo Alto; Saturday, Oct. 22, noon to 3 p.m. Call 650-321-3891 or visit www.pacificartleague.org.

2. GRANDPA'S PUMPKIN PATCH

Pick out your favorite pumpkin at Grandpa's in Sunnyvale, the largest pumpkin patch around. Find it at: 660 W. El Camino Real, Sunnyvale; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. through the end of October.

3. PUMPKIN PIE

Treat yourself to a slice of delicious homemade pumpkin pie ($3.95) or a whole 9-inch pie for the family ($13.25) at our favorite downtown Palo Alto bakery: The Prolific Oven. 4. MENLO PARK PUMPKIN FESTIVAL

St. Raymond School holds its Annual Pumpkin Festival this weekend, complete with pony rides, a climbing wall, face painting, games, a haunted house and food. 5. LAHS PUMPKIN PATCH
