How would parents even know if their less-than-age-13 children have a Facebook account? Anyone can easily sign up with Facebook with a false name and false age. And how does Facebook know which of their users are under age 13? There are probably millions of such Facebook accounts.

Yes, and I would do that with my child. At least I will try to do it together instead of forcing the kid to make it a secret. I can make a lesson out of the experience and have a chance to talk about the dangers of open internet.
