Salmon Recalled for Listeria Contamination
Tests confirmed Listeria monocytogenes in the salmon.
Ocean Beauty Seafood is recalling 371 cases of cold smoked salmon because of possible contamination by Listeria monocytogenes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Routine testing by the company found listeria in samples of the salmon.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
