Stanford Expands Online Course Offerings

Game Theory, Cryptography and Natural Language Processing among new classes available to public.

 

Stanford University is expanding its free online class program, following the success of a pilot program last fall that drew more than 350,000 participants, according to a Stanford School of Engineering spokesperson.

Beginning March 12, Stanford will offer classes in Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Natural Language Processing and  Cryptography, with two more, Game Theory and Probabilistic Graphical Models, launching March 19, according to the SSE website.

"Stanford has been a pioneer in online education for many years, and we are pleased to continue expanding and refining our online offerings to benefit both our own students and students around the world," Stanford University Provost John Etchemendy told Stanford News Service.

So far, more than 335,000 students have registered for the classes, according to SNS.
