Catch a unique concert, re-purpose a few odd knack-knacks, see a dramatic performance, learn how to help local homeless, or meet author Sandra Park.

1. The Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA) at Stanford presents an evening of musical performances and sound installations tonight at 8 p.m. The concert will feature works of all types staged throughout the building in the character of a John Cage "Musicircus." The audience will be encouraged to wander throughout the building, refreshments in hand, enjoying the many colors of CCRMA musicianship. 2. Join six talented artists in residence at the Palo Alto Art Center—Peter Foley, Inge Infante, Marianne Lettieri, Julie Nelson-Gal, Michael Pauker and Cristina Velazquez—as they discuss their diverse journeys of re-purposing items and ideas into engaging, renewed artwork. The theme of the evening is, Transformers: Turning Found Objects into Fine Art.. It all takes place tonight, 7-9 p.m., at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Rd. 3. This year, in collaboration with the Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts, Stanford Continuing Studies offers a series of dramatic readings in tribute to National Public Radio's popular series, "Selected Shorts," featuring writings on and about memory. The title of the series, "Speak, Memory," is borrowed from Vladimir Nabokov's luminous memoir of the same name, and the series' creators have recruited accomplished actress Kay Kostopoulos to direct the programs. Each performance will feature three or four selected pieces. The first performance takes place tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Cubberley Auditorium at the School of Education at Stanford, 450 Serra Mall. 4. Project WeHOPE ("We Help Other People Excel") is a nonprofit organization that seeks to increase the health of its home city, East Palo Alto, by developing transformational leaders who will address the critical issues facing our community. Project WeHOPE presents the East Palo Alto Homeless Connect II event today, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the WeHOPE Warming Shelter, 1858-B Bay Road, East Palo Alto. Homeless Connect events bring service providers together directly with homeless individuals and families, creating a streamlined access point for those in need. For more information, call Paul J. 5. Tonight, Books Inc., at 74 Town and Country in Palo Alto, welcomes a special guest speaker.
