Photography: Writing with Light
Palo
Alto, California—The Pacific Art League of Palo Alto (PAL) will
host two new exhibitions, May 2nd
– 21st,
in its transitional location at 227 Forest Avenue in Palo Alto.
“Photography: Writing with Light,” a juried exhibition comprising forty two works by California photographers, will be featured in the Main Gallery. The works were selected by guest Juror Brian Taylor.
The Glass Gallery will feature “Third Wish,” a multimedia installation by San Jose artist Zoya Scholis. Scholis is best known for watercolors. She has shown paintings throughout the U.S. and won numerous awards. “Third Wish” is her first installation and mixed media show. It references “not only The Fairy tale, but the dark feminine housed therein.”

In the Craft Gallery, local artist and PAL member Louis Basel will
be exhibiting his blown glass. Both a craftsman and a mechanical engineer, Basel learned the art of glass blowing while at MIT. He
works out of a private, buit-by-hand studio in San Jose’s
Japantown, Wonderworks Glass. He states, “In
glass, I draw from the precise proportioned forms of the Venetian
tradition and bring innovations of my own into process and tools. In

All are invited to attend the opening reception held on May 2th, 2014, from 5:30 - 8:00 PM at the Pacific Art League. Come enjoy beautiful art by talented local artists, good music, refreshments and great company!
