Steinway Society – The Bay Area presents Mordecai Shehori
Steinway Society – The Bay Area, the
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting excellence in piano performance
and music education in the Bay Area, will bring South Bay audiences the rare
opportunity to experience a live concert by Israel’s acclaimed virtuoso Mordecai
Shehori. He has been internationally
recognized for his sophisticated and inspired interpretation, and consummate
musicianship. Having performed and recorded a wide-ranging repertoire, with 29
critically acclaimed solo published albums to date, Shehori cites his close
collaboration and friendship with Vladimir Horowitz as a significant source of
knowledge and inspiration, along with one-on-one sessions with such important
pianists as Stefan Askenase, Gina Bachauer, Alexis Weissenberg, and violinist
Nathan Milstein.
At this concert, Shehori will perform
Jean-Baptiste Lully’s Suite de Piéces, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata in
E Major Op. 109, Frédéric Chopin’s Bolero
in A Minor Op. 19, Claude Debussy’s Reflets
dans l’eau, six works by Sergei Rachmaninov, and the Liszt/Horowitz
transcription of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse
Macabre.
