Freedom Train Ride

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Association of Santa Clara Valley holds its annual Freedom Train Ride to commemorate the distance walked during the 1965 voting rights marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.

A designated Caltrain departs from Diridon Station at 9:30am but organizers recommend arriving at least a half hour early because lines are long. The train arrives in Sunnyvale at 9:45am, Palo Alto at 9:59am, San Mateo at 10:22am, and reaches its final destination of San Francisco at 10:55am. A celebration follows the San Francisco arrival.

$10 tickets are good for a round trip and riders can take any Caltrain back to their original destination. There are no discounts for seniors or children. Seating is limited and there are no refunds.
