Palo Alto's Downtown Holiday Fest Is Saturday at Lytton Plaza

Tree lighting and mini-snowman building contest planned.

Palo Alto's third annual tree lighting and holiday festivities will be Saturday -- rain or shine -- from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lytton Plaza on University Avenue and Emerson Street.

The downtown community's family-friendly event includes:

  • 4 p.m. - Live music begins.
  • 4:45 p.m. - Build a mini-snowman contest.
  • 5:45 p.m. - Snowman judging.
  • 6 p.m. - Contest winners announced (best in show, most creative, best family effort).
  • 6:05 p.m. - Lighting of 20-foot tall holiday tree.
  • 7 p.m. - Live music ends.
For this year's new mini-snowman-building contest, bring your own items to dress/adorn/customize your 12-inch tall snowman. Snow will be provided!

Live holiday music will be courtesy of five local student groups:
  • - Keys School Choir
  • - 37th Parallel
  • - Starr Saunders
  • - Paly Pep Band
  • - Bay Bells (ringers)

Please bring a warm coat to donate to the Downtown Streets Team to help those in need.
