Obituary: Rev. Spencer Rice, 85, Former Palo Alto Minister

Rev. Rice served in Palo Alto before going on to San Francisco, Boston and Washington, D.C.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2014, in Rogers, MN. Much beloved brother of Gaylord (Rice) Smith; Evelina (Rice) Templeton, and father of Gaylord Rice Young of Brooklyn, NY; Byron Rice of Minneapolis, MN; and Winston Rice. Esteemed grandfather of Erik Rice, Maura Okur Rice, and Phineas Rice.

Spencer was proud and privileged to serve as a minister in the Episcopal Church, leading parishes in San Fernando, Palo Alto and San Francisco, CA as well as Trinity Church, Copley Square, Boston, MA. In retirement he served as senior advisor to the rector and adjunct minister at the Church of the Presidents, St. John's-Lafayette Square, Washington, DC.

Funeral services will be held at St. John's-Lafayette Square, 16th and H Sts., NW, on 7 February at 10:30a.m.. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church Divinity School of the Pacific.
