Police Arrest Man For Robbing Steve Jobs' Old Home in Palo Alto
Kariem McFarlin charged in connection with a July 17 burglary at the late Apple co-founder's former domicile.
An Alameda man is being held on $500,000 bail on suspicion of burglarizing the Palo Alto home of the late Steve Jobs, according to an article published today in the Palo Alto Daily News.
The Daily News reports that Kariem McFarlin, 35, was arrested at his Alameda residence on Aug. 2 and arraigned Aug. 7 on charges of burglarizing the Apple co-founder's home on July 17 and selling stolen property. He is being held in the Santa Clara County jail and is scheduled to enter a plea in court on Aug. 20.
The News says more than $60,000 of "computers and personal items" were taken in the burglary, according to Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery, a member of the high-technology crimes unit.

McFarlin was probably not aware that the home had belonged to Jobs, the article says.
McFarlin has been an Alameda resident off and on at least since the early 1990s, with addresses in the West End, an Alameda Police Department spokesman said.

Sgt. Wayland Gee said McFarlin has been cited for traffic violations in Alameda but has no arrest record here. McFarlin has been arrested in other Alameda County jurisdictions in the past, Gee said.
He said APD was notified of the arrest by Palo Alto authorities.
