UPDATE: SWAT CALLED! Palo Alto Police Ask Ames Ave. Residents to Remain Indoors Until Further Notice Due to Burglary

Update: our SWAT team has searched the house, & no suspects are inside. Searches of surrounding areas are now occurring.

Update: our crisis negotiators & SWAT team are on scene. We still don't know for certain if any suspects are inside.

Update: we still have the home surrounded, & are calling in our crisis negotiators & SWAT team in case the suspect(s) remain inside.

Crisis negotiators & SWAT allow us to use officers with specialized training to safely resolve situations where suspects may be barricaded.

Update: Officers have the home surrounded & are making announcements to call out any suspects who may still be inside.


News alert from Palo Alto Police Monday, March 24 at 7:50 p.m.


Happening now: There has been an interrupted residential burglary in the 800 block of Ames Avenue.
  
No one was home at the time; the resident returned home to find signs of forced entry.

Police have surrounded the home, but it is not known if the suspects are still inside. 

An alert message is being sent via phone to affected residences; those residents are being advised to stay inside with doors locked. The affected residents are in a one-block radius on Ames Avenue.

An updated message will be sent via phone once the situation is resolved.
