The Palo Alto Fire Department successfully contained a two- to three-acre vegetation fire this afternoon -- Friday -- in the Foothills area off Page Mill Road and Highway 280, according to officials.
While fire retardant was dropped from Cal Fire aircraft, Palo Alto crews aggressively battled the blaze from the ground.
