Cops Nab Burglary Suspect

Suspect is connected to multiple break-ins.

Palo Alto Police arrested a man Monday they believe is connected to a residential burglary reported over the weekend.

The man, 20-year-old Jose Rodriguez-Vasquez, of East Palo Alto, was seen walking in the area of Hamilton Avenue and Alester Drive around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning, according to police.

A resident saw him shortly before that and called 9-1-1 after hearing noises and seeing a flashlight outside a residence on the 1600 block of Edgewood Drive.

The officer stopped the man just one block west of the residence, and investigating officers determined he may be connected to the burglary and a separate burglary from the weekend, police said.

On January 22, a report was filed by homeowners on the 1600 block of Hamilton Avnue after they returned home from a trip to find multiple electronic items had been stolen, police said.

Rodriguez-Vasquez was booked into the San Jose Main Jail on suspicion of burglary and possession of a fixed-blade knife. 

On Monday, Palo Alto Police detectives searched Rodriguez-Vasquez’s home and found the stolen property from the home on Hamilton Avenue.
